A New Start

As my daughter gets a little older and a little taller each day, she asks me questions about my childhood and being tall. Amazing how children help you confront deep and painful memories. I have found myself making them humorous and silly so she doesn't have to fear being the tallest person in her school or being called names.

I was in first grade when I knew life would be different. My feet never swung while sitting in my chair. I had a desk brought in from the third grade class. I could nearly look my teacher in the eye. I've grown to be 6'2" but girls seem to grow so fast, so young. Thankfully I had the self esteem to deal with my height.

Bending over to get a drink from the water fountain and having water come out my nose. That one still makes me laugh.

If this site becomes a way for my children to know that an elevated view on life is wonderful, for my parents to know how grateful I am for strong genes, for my husband to see how much I adore his willingness to live with a woman who hides the chocolate higher than he can reach...then it will all be worth it.
